The strandline, or high water mark, is the area at the top of a beach where debris is deposited. This piece of zinc? has been corroded by the salt water leaving interesting visual and textural effects. I guess other sea creatures have been munching on the oyster shell, resulting in an uneven pockmarked surface. It is this sort of texture that could be replicated using volcanic glaze techniques, so far unsuccessful…..but I have received some useful advice from a fellow potter, and am hoping that with a bit more practice I will have some more pleasing results soon.
